Manchester United Hijack Deal: Senne Lammens Signs for €21m as Newcastle Seal Yoane Wissa Transfer

Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in a deal worth an initial €21 million plus add-ons, shutting down rumors of a move for Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper is already en route to Manchester and will sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford, according to reports.

United’s goalkeeping department has been under scrutiny, with Altay Bayindir failing to impress in league action, while Andre Onana’s costly errors — including his blunder in the EFL Cup shock defeat to Grimsby Town — have put pressure on the club to find a reliable solution.

Speaking after his team’s 3-1 win over Burnley, manager Ruben Amorim admitted:

“I think it is hard to be a Manchester United goalkeeper at the moment.”

Club insiders believe that Lammens is the right man to stabilize the position long-term, describing him as “an exciting young goalkeeper with a bright future”, according to the BBC.

Meanwhile, in another major Premier League transfer twist, Newcastle United have reached a £55 million agreement with Brentford for forward Yoane Wissa.

The DR Congo international had publicly urged the Bees to “keep their word” and allow him to leave, and just 24 hours later, Newcastle finalized a deal worth £50m plus £5m in add-ons.

This move follows a record-breaking shocker as Liverpool signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle for a staggering £130 million, smashing the British transfer record and reshaping the transfer market.

The Premier League’s transfer window is heating up — and both United and Newcastle have made statements of intent with their latest signings.
