Manchester United are closing in on a potential goalkeeper reshuffle after reportedly agreeing personal terms with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.
The Red Devils, who face uncertainty with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, are pushing to secure Martinez before Monday’s transfer deadline. The Argentine World Cup winner has long been admired at Old Trafford, and reliable transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that personal terms are already agreed, though negotiations with Villa remain ongoing.
Martinez, 32, signed a contract extension last year that ties him to Villa for four more seasons, but speculation over his future has never died down. ESPN previously revealed the keeper’s openness to joining United, though Villa rejected a loan bid earlier this summer.
Alongside Martinez, United are also in talks with Antwerp for 22-year-old Senne Lammens. The Belgian goalkeeper has been absent from recent squads amid transfer links, with Villa themselves considering him as a possible Martinez replacement.
Old Trafford legend Dwight Yorke has openly endorsed the move for Martinez, praising him as “one of the best at saving penalties” and a goalkeeper with the personality to thrive under the pressures of Manchester United.
As the transfer deadline looms, United fans wait eagerly to see if Martinez will don the famous red jersey.
