French President Emmanuel Macron has restated France’s commitment to supporting Nigeria as the nation confronts worsening security threats, especially terrorism in the northern region. Macron revealed that he spoke with President Bola Tinubu and assured him of deeper cooperation with Nigerian authorities to strengthen ongoing security efforts. He emphasized that global partners must not stay silent while violence escalates, insisting that “no one can remain a spectator.”

His pledge comes shortly after President Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency on November 26, ordering massive recruitment into the armed forces and police to tackle renewed attacks. Recent incidents in Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, and other states have heightened public concern as kidnappings and killings surge. While some abducted students have regained freedom, many are still held captive.
