Lagos State Taskforce has arrested three suspects, including a man posing as Navy Captain James K. Robert, for impersonating military personnel during the demolition of illegal structures in Oworonshoki.
Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, stated that Robert and his accomplices used fake military identities to intimidate residents, obstruct lawful demolition, and demand the release of seized vehicles. Their suspicious behavior, inconsistencies in uniforms, and missing regalia raised red flags. Verification with the Naval Police confirmed they were not serving officers.
The suspects are under investigation by the Nigerian Navy, and prosecution is expected. Akerele warned that this action serves as a deterrent to others impersonating security officials to commit crimes, urging residents to report suspicious activities. The arrests highlight ongoing efforts to safeguard public trust and enforce compliance with lawful government operations in Lagos State.
