The Lagos State Police Command has launched a comprehensive security operation ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, deploying thousands of officers across the state to ensure safety, free traffic flow and crime prevention.
Acting on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, the operation is being coordinated by the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh. The strategy covers conventional police units, tactical squads, intelligence teams and marine police to secure roads, waterways and public spaces.
Over 5,000 officers have been assigned to traffic management, while joint task teams will clamp down on traffic robbers and hoodlums. Special attention is being given to churches, markets, motor parks, clubs and recreational centres. Residents have been urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities as police assure a peaceful festive season in Lagos.
