The Lagos State Police Command has refuted media allegations that Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood, violated a court order in the ongoing Nestoil Limited dispute.
The Command labeled the claims as misleading and an attempt to involve the police in a non-partisan matter.
In a statement released on Saturday, Command spokesperson SP Abimbola Adebisi dismissed the reports as “false, unfounded, and mischievous,” stating that the Commissioner has never defied any judicial directive.
The statement noted that the court order cited was received at the Command headquarters at 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
It was forwarded to the Police Legal Department for verification, with confirmation received the following evening, November 21.
“Following confirmation, all police officers at the Nestoil premises were withdrawn without delay on the same day, complying fully with the court’s instruction,” the statement noted.
The Command found it “shocking and malicious” to see reports alleging defiance by the Commissioner.
“For clarity, CP Olohundare Moshood did not visit Nestoil’s premises on November 20 or 21, 2025,” the statement emphasized. “Our role was solely to provide security for the Court Sheriff during enforcement of a valid court order, maintaining peace and order throughout. At no time did the Police obstruct enforcement.”
The police clarified they lack the legal authority to seal or unseal premises, including Nestoil’s. Their duty is to safeguard judicial officials and agents during court-directed enforcement.
“Attempting to involve the Lagos Commissioner of Police in the Nestoil dispute is mischievous and unnecessary,” Adebisi stated.
The Command reaffirmed commitment to due process, adding that the CP is “an officer of the law who derives authority from the law and will never violate a court order.”
The Command urged the public to disregard misleading reports, assuring commitment to the rule of law and respect for judicial authority.
