Lagos APC Backs Tinubu, Southwest Governors on Urgent State Police

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind Southwest governors’ demand that President Bola Tinubu fast-track the creation of State Police to tackle rising insecurity.

APC spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, called the move “timely, forthright and pragmatic,” insisting that “only enemies of peace” would resist State policing. He said the Southwest has long championed community-based security, citing Amotekun and sustained investments in local security infrastructure as proof that decentralised security works.

Oladejo stressed that the governors’ position reflects the party’s philosophy that “security must be local to be effective,” and aligns with Tinubu’s push to reform and modernise Nigeria’s internal security system.

He described State Police as a logical, inevitable step to bring security closer to citizens, improve intelligence and deter crime in real time.
