The Rivers State Chairman of the Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party, Gogo Wellington, has disclosed that party structures across states are set to move into the African Democratic Congress alongside Peter Obi. He made the statement following Obi’s recent defection to the ADC in Enugu.

Wellington explained that the Labour Party had participated in opposition coalition talks, which have now been concluded, leading to Obi’s decision to adopt a new political platform. According to him, party organs nationwide are expected to align with the move within a short time.

He attributed the development to prolonged internal crises within the Labour Party, stressing that Obi and his supporters are focused on securing a credible platform for the next general election. Wellington added that Obi’s supporters are no longer politically invested in the Labour Party and remain committed to national rescue and reform.
