Kwara Declares Monday, October 6, Public Holiday to Honour Teachers

In celebration of this year’s World Teachers’ Day, the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has declared Monday, October 6, 2025, as a public holiday for all teachers across the state.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, who conveyed the governor’s goodwill message in a statement released in Ilorin on Saturday.

Governor Abdulrazaq lauded the resilience, sacrifice, and devotion of teachers, describing them as key drivers of human progress and national development.

“Our teachers embody patience, sacrifice, and resilience. They nurture minds, shape futures, and drive society’s growth,” Dr. Olohungbebe stated, emphasizing the governor’s deep appreciation for educators.

He further acknowledged teachers as the backbone of every profession, stressing that their contribution to knowledge and human capital formation remains invaluable.

“Today, Kwara salutes their labour of love, for without teachers, no profession exists,” the commissioner added.

The declaration of the public holiday is part of the state’s recognition of the vital role teachers play in nation-building, as Kwara joins the rest of the world to honour educators who continue to inspire excellence in the classroom and beyond.
