Kogi Church Abduction: Bandits Demand ₦200M for 14 Hostages

Bandits who kidnapped 14 worshippers from a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West LGA, Kogi State, have issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding ₦200 million from the victims’ families. The abduction, which occurred on November 30, 2025, targeted the presiding pastor, Orlando, seven members of his household, including six children, and two infants.

A video circulating online shows the pastor’s family pleading for Governor Usman Ododo’s urgent intervention, describing the ransom demand as beyond their means. While the Kogi State Government confirmed the attack and launched security operations, it maintains a stance against negotiating with bandits.

Troops of the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army rescued six victims on December 3, but the remaining eight, including the pastor and six children, remain in critical danger as the ransom deadline approaches, intensifying fears for their safety.
