Katsina Gov Radda Approves ₦20m Per LGA for Cemetery Renovation

The Katsina State government has announced a ₦20 million allocation for each local government area to renovate and maintain cemeteries across the state.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda made this known on Thursday while addressing traditional rulers from the Katsina and Daura Emirates in Katsina.

According to the governor, the initiative is both a public service and a spiritual duty aimed at seeking divine blessings for the state.

“We have set aside ₦20 million for each local government to ensure our graveyards are well taken care of. This is part of our service to the people and also a way of seeking Allah’s blessings for Katsina,” he said.

New Welfare Package for Leaders

Beyond cemetery upkeep, Governor Radda also announced new welfare measures for traditional and religious leaders.

  • Salaries of all District Heads raised to at least Grade Level 16 under a new law.
  • Over 3,000 Imams and deputies to receive stipends.
  • Mosque sweepers to start earning allowances.

The governor stressed that these efforts are designed to uplift those who play vital roles in the spiritual and social development of the state.

Youths and Security Initiatives

Radda further disclosed that over 1,500 youths have been trained and equipped to support security operations across the state.

“Security is a collective responsibility. Every citizen has a role to play in keeping Katsina safe,” he emphasized.

Senator Ibrahim Ida, the Wazirin Katsina, representing Emir Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir-Usman, praised the governor’s commitment, describing it as a reflection of his dedication to welfare and security.

“These initiatives will have a lasting impact on the people of Katsina,” he stated.
