Kano Assembly Approves ₦215.3bn Supplementary Budget – Here’s Where the Money Will Go!

The Kano State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of ₦215.3 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, raising the state’s total budget to over ₦935 billion.

The approval followed Governor Abba Yusuf’s request, which was deliberated and adopted during plenary presided over by Speaker Jibril Falgore.

Speaker Falgore assured citizens that the Assembly would closely monitor Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper use of allocated funds.

“The House will continue to monitor implementation of the supplementary budget to make sure that the money allocated is used strictly for the purposes intended,” he stated.

The Majority Leader, Alhaji Lawan Husseini (NNPP-Dala), explained that the supplementary budget became necessary to sustain newly created MDAs and fund critical development projects.

According to him, the funds will be channeled into school renovations, infrastructure development, and urban renewal projects that will directly benefit Kano residents.

The supplementary budget also covers the operations of newly established MDAs that were not included in the original budget.

With this new approval, Kano’s 2025 budget now totals ₦935.1 billion, up from the initial ₦719.8 billion presented in November 2024 under the theme: “Budget of Hope, Human Capital, and Economic Development.”

The initial budget had allocated ₦457.08 billion (64%) for capital expenditure and ₦262.67 billion (36%) for recurrent expenditure.

This additional approval signals Kano’s push for accelerated development, education reforms, and modern urban renewal in the year ahead.
