Kaduna Clerics Warn: Ransom Demands Destroy Rural Communities

Christian leaders in Southern Kaduna have raised alarm over the abduction of over 100 worshippers in Kurmin Wali, urging the government and security agencies to take immediate action.

Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Kure, Chairman of Southern Kaduna Christian Leaders, highlighted the emotional trauma faced by families and criticized the lack of visible progress weeks after the kidnappings. He stressed that rural farmers cannot meet ransom demands of ₦50–₦80 million, warning these demands are destroying communities.

The clerics called for urgent rescue operations and stronger community security measures to protect places of worship. Apostle Kure urged vigilance and collaboration with security forces where government resources are limited, emphasizing that delays only erode public trust and exacerbate suffering.

The Southern Kaduna Prayer Summit also stressed that protecting holy places is a shared responsibility for Christians, Muslims, and communities at large.
