Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has identified Arsenal as the team most likely to win the Premier League title this season, placing them ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City in the title race.
Speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, Carragher praised the Gunners’ consistency and balance under Mikel Arteta, but cautioned that they might face psychological pressure as the season approaches its decisive stages.
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League table, three points clear of Manchester City and four ahead of Liverpool after just eight matches.
“I feared this happening,” Carragher said. “It almost feels like once that invincibility is gone – a little bit like with Man City last season – every rival team feels like they have a chance.”
The former Liverpool defender said Arsenal appear to be the best-equipped team to challenge for the title based on their early-season performances, defensive solidity, and squad depth.
“I think Arsenal right now looks like the best-equipped team to win the title,” he added. “But Arsenal will get nervous in March and April because they have not won a league for so long.”
Carragher further warned that Liverpool and Manchester City must ensure they stay close to Arsenal, as dropping unnecessary points could make it impossible to catch up later in the campaign.
“Liverpool and Manchester City need to make sure they’re not too far out in front where they can’t affect that. Liverpool are losing silly points, and I think they will lose more. They’ve got to keep Arsenal within arm’s length,” he said.
With Arsenal showing strong momentum early in the season, Carragher’s remarks add further intrigue to what promises to be one of the most competitive Premier League title races in recent years.
