Isaac Fayose, the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has once again criticized Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, urging him to seek lessons on infrastructural development from the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
This comes just hours after Fayose described Aiyedatiwa as one of the least performing governors in Nigeria. His renewed criticism followed a response from Yomi Oyekan, an aide to Governor Aiyedatiwa, who dismissed Fayose’s earlier claims and insisted that the Ondo leader is “working tirelessly” for the progress of the state.
However, Fayose maintained his position, insisting that Ondo State remains one of the dirtiest and least developed states in the country, despite being an oil-producing region with access to huge federal allocations.
“I was in Ondo State last week,” Fayose stated. “Sir, even your aide that replied to me can’t live in Ondo State after your government, with the way the state is right now. Your state is one of the dirtiest states in Nigeria with very low development. Oil-producing state for that matter.”
He further challenged Governor Aiyedatiwa to “visit Abuja and learn from Wike” on how to deliver impactful governance and infrastructural growth.
“I stand by my remarks!” Fayose declared. “The Ondo State governor is a lazy governor. There’s nothing to show for the billions he is getting from the federal government. We are poor because we have poor-thinking leaders managing our resources.”
He concluded by claiming that if he were the governor of Ondo State, he could generate ₦2 trillion annually without relying on internally generated revenue (IGR) or federal allocations.
The comments have sparked mixed reactions across political circles, with many calling for both parties to focus on constructive dialogue and state development rather than verbal exchanges.
