Elder statesman and former Afenifere Secretary-General, Ayo Opadokun, has described Nigeria’s worsening insecurity as a deliberate and well-coordinated plan by destructive forces, not an accident.
Speaking in Offa, Kwara State, during his installation as Grand Patron of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Opadokun alleged that bandits and insurgents are being sponsored by individuals seeking to destabilise the country and undermine the current government.
He revealed that intelligence warnings about non-state actors possessing weapons superior to those of Nigeria’s armed forces were ignored, stressing that the present crisis was long anticipated. Opadokun urged the Federal Government to intensify the fight against insurgency and show zero tolerance for sponsors of violence.
While commending President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and tax policies, he cautioned that meaningful progress must translate into improved living conditions, security, and hope for ordinary Nigerians.
