INEC to Conduct Mock Accreditation for BVAS Ahead of Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will conduct a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State to test the upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the November 2025 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Saturday by Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the mock exercise will hold on Saturday, October 25, at selected polling units across the state’s three senatorial districts.

According to the commission, the exercise aims to evaluate BVAS response time, as well as test the efficiency of result uploads on the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal.

“The mock accreditation exercise will allow INEC to test the upgraded BVAS, assess its response time, and test the uploading of results on the INEC Result Viewing Portal ahead of the main election,” the statement read.

The selected polling units for the mock exercise are located in Awka South, Idemili North, Oyi, Anambra East, Aguata, and Orumba North Local Government Areas.

INEC urged voters in these areas to actively participate, stressing that their involvement will help fine-tune the commission’s operational and technological systems before the main election.

Additionally, INEC announced that the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters will begin on Wednesday, October 22, and run until Sunday, October 26.

Voters who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) are expected to collect their PVCs personally at their registration centers, as proxy collection will not be allowed.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder confidence as preparations for the 2025 Anambra governorship election continue.
