Afrobeat star and activist, Seun Kuti, has launched a vehement public attack on businessman and politician, Ned Nwoko, leveling severe allegations of cruelty and oppression against the people of his own community.
In a strongly-worded post on his Instagram story, Kuti accused Nwoko of inflicting pain and fear on his hometown. The musician claimed that Nwoko’s actions nearly led to the death of the community’s traditional ruler and included an attempt to forcibly seize communal land.
Further escalating his criticism, Kuti alleged that Nwoko was responsible for the prolonged incarceration of nine young men from the area. He stated that the men were jailed for years on what he described as false charges of terrorism.
Expressing his dismay, Kuti labeled the situation as profound wickedness, questioning how someone in a position of power could exhibit such behaviour. He also extended his commentary to Nwoko’s marriage to actress Regina Daniels, expressing surprise that she could remain with him despite the alleged deeds.
However, Kuti shifted part of the blame to the nation’s socio-economic state, suggesting that if Nigeria were a better place, young women would not feel compelled to make such choices for comfort and stability.
