Former Imo State Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a notable realignment in the state’s political landscape.
Ihedioha completed his registration on Monday at Mbutu Ward, Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area, where he received ADC membership card number 001. He said his decision was deliberate and driven by the party’s commitment to accountability, service, and people-centred governance.
The former governor stressed that Nigeria and Imo State require leadership anchored on public interest, transparency, and responsiveness. He added that registering at the ward level reflected his belief in grassroots politics and inclusive participation.
ADC leaders present described Ihedioha’s defection as a major boost to the party in the South-East, noting that his experience would strengthen its credibility and mobilisation efforts ahead of future elections.
