IGP Egbetokun: Police–NGX Alliance Lifts Investor Trust

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has said the growing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the capital market is strengthening integrity and boosting investor confidence.

Speaking after leading the NGX closing gong ceremony in Lagos, the IGP described the engagement as more than a formality. According to him, it represents a renewed commitment to market transparency, investor protection and institutional collaboration.

Egbetokun noted that closer cooperation with market regulators would help curb financial crimes and reassure both local and foreign investors that Nigeria’s capital market is secure and well monitored. He added that the symbolic ringing of the bell should send a clear message of safety and opportunity to investors across the world.

SEC Director-General, Dr. Emomotimi Agama, said the Police presence sends a strong signal of order and safety, stressing that investor confidence grows when regulators and law enforcement work closely.

NGX Group Chairman, Umaru Kwairanga, also said the collaboration would deepen market growth, attract more listings and strengthen Nigeria’s economic outlook.
