Idris Urges Nigerians to Demand Governors Deliver Results

Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has called on Nigerians to hold state governors accountable for poor delivery of democracy’s dividends ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking at the 34th Convocation of FUT Minna, Idris stressed that states and local governments have received increased allocations since President Bola Tinubu took office in 2023, and citizens deserve tangible development.

He warned governors to stop blaming the president and go back to the drawing board to ensure their people benefit from federal reforms. According to Idris, the Tinubu administration’s reforms are creating unprecedented opportunities for citizens, especially youth, in sectors like education, entrepreneurship, and governance.

Highlighting education, Idris pointed to the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which has disbursed over ₦174 billion to support higher institution students. Since May 2024, 900,000 students have benefited, demonstrating that the Renewed Hope Agenda is real, functional, and transformative.

He urged young Nigerians to embrace these reforms for personal empowerment and nation-building, while stressing that governors failing to leverage these opportunities are denying citizens progress and growth.
