Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Samuel Jacob, popularly known as Sammie, has opened up about his post-show struggles with depression and financial hardship, a year after leaving the reality TV show.
In an emotional Instagram video, Sammie revealed that life after fame was far from the glitz many assumed. He confessed to enduring several breakdowns while trying to cope with the pressures of maintaining a public image in Lagos.
“A year after the show, I lost count of how many times I felt depressed. I would sit alone in my house in Lekki and just cry. A grown man with beards, crying and asking God why,” he said.
The reality star disclosed that financial instability made things worse, admitting that his bank account often received more debit alerts than credit notifications.
“There was barely money coming in, but I still had a life to maintain. It messed with my head,” Sammie said.
He explained that joining BBNaija disrupted his education and career plans, leaving him uncertain about his future. Despite his public persona, he struggled silently while watching peers seemingly flourish.
“You’d see young guys pulling up in G-Wagons while I chop my indomie and wear a fine shirt like everything’s fine,” he recounted.
Sammie’s story has since sparked conversations online about the pressures of post-reality fame and mental health challenges in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
