Nollywood superstar Mercy Johnson Okojie has added her powerful voice to the growing public outcry, demanding the immediate and unconditional release of Sammy West, the brother of actress Regina Daniels, who was arrested amidst the escalating marital crisis between Daniels and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
In a strongly-worded post on her social media platform, Mercy Johnson condemned the circumstances of the arrest, describing it as “the worst form of injustice.” She raised critical questions about the legal procedures, revealing that Sammy West was reportedly flown from Lagos to Abuja and taken directly to court without access to legal counsel, food, or water.
“The worst form of injustice is pretended justice,” Mercy Johnson wrote. “A child was arrested, no one can or has been allowed to see him for two days. He was flown from Lagos to Abuja…How did we get here? Nigeria…Wow.”
Her intervention follows allegations from Regina Daniels’ other brother, Sweezzy, who accused Senator Nwoko of using Sammy’s detention as a form of intimidation and leverage in the ongoing family dispute. The arrest has sparked a fierce debate online about the abuse of power, the rights of citizens, and the accessibility of justice for all, regardless of status.
