The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said he suffers sleepless nights thinking about how to deliver projects in Abuja and its satellite towns.
Speaking on Wednesday at the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualisation of Karu Road — from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction — and other Karu township roads, Wike stressed that development is driven by relationships, not empty words.
Taking a swipe at FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe, Wike remarked:
“It’s not grammar; grammar does not bring projects, it’s the relationship with people. What we are talking about is bringing dividends of democracy to the people.”
He praised former Senator Philip Aduda for lobbying additional roads into the project scope. “Because I know he means well for his people, I conceded to him,” Wike explained.
The projects now include Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarters, Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC, NIA Quarters Road, Pasi Road, and Primus Hospital Road.
Wike assured residents that the projects, equipped with street lights, would be completed within 10 months, boosting trade and economic growth.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is to bring back hope. Let Karu be the city everybody talks about,” the minister declared.
