Governor Peter Mbah Meets Tinubu After Defecting to APC, Seeks Stronger Federal Ties

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House, Abuja, just days after officially defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a post on his verified X handle on Wednesday, Mbah revealed that the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between Enugu State and the Federal Government to drive economic growth and development.

“Today, I had the honour of meeting with His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, at the State House, Abuja.
We discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between Enugu State and the Federal Government to deliver greater prosperity for our people.
Enugu remains fully committed to playing its part in building a stronger, united, and more prosperous Nigeria,” Mbah wrote.

Governor Mbah officially dumped the PDP on October 14, during a press conference in Enugu, describing his defection as a strategic move to align the state’s policies with the Federal Government’s development agenda.

According to him, joining the ruling APC would ensure “visionary partnership and transformative change” that would advance Enugu’s interests and promote inclusive growth.

Mbah was accompanied by his predecessor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and several state and federal lawmakers, emphasizing that the decision was carefully considered to better serve the people of Enugu and secure the state’s place in national development plans.

His visit to President Tinubu is seen by political observers as a clear signal of stronger federal–state collaboration and a new political direction for the South-East state under APC’s umbrella.
