The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has confirmed that former President Goodluck Jonathan remains a member of the party despite speculations about his political future ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking on Arise TV’s Morning Show, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, dismissed rumors of Jonathan’s exit, saying:
“President Jonathan is still a member of this party because he has not resigned.”
While Jonathan has neither confirmed nor denied interest in contesting, Ologunagba emphasized that the PDP is confident in its pool of qualified leaders and performing governors, including Governor Seyi Makinde, who he described as a “poster boy” of the party.
On speculations about Peter Obi returning to the PDP, Ologunagba declined to comment, noting that Obi has not expressed interest in rejoining.
The PDP maintained that it remains the strongest opposition party, with states under its control serving as “oasis of development” in Nigeria.
