Goodluck Jonathan Eyes 2027 Comeback, Considers ADC Alignment Amid Political Shake-Up

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is reportedly exploring an alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to insiders.

Recent months have seen Jonathan intensify public engagements, fueling speculation that he may challenge President Bola Tinubu in the next polls.

Jonathan’s meeting with ADC National Chairman David Mark in Abuja is said to have centred on his possible entry into the party’s structure. Yet, sources say Mark insists Jonathan must formally join ADC and compete through its primaries — there is no guarantee of a direct ticket.

Insiders suggest that Jonathan is growing disillusioned with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), whose internal disputes and image challenges may have diminished its appeal as a platform for his return.

However, this potential shift faces obstacles. ADC party leaders have expressed concerns over power dynamics, particularly with former VP Atiku Abubakar also eyeing the party’s ticket.

For now, Jonathan and party leadership are expected to reconvene soon to review terms. The coming weeks may reveal whether his political comeback will indeed run on the ADC platform — or take another path.
