A German woman of Congolese origin, Honorine Porsche, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison by a military court in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, for an attempted armed robbery at a RawBank branch. The October 17 incident triggered a tense, hours-long standoff before security agents arrested Porsche and four others inside the bank. Although no casualties were recorded, the bank reported that about $20,000 went missing and has not been recovered.
During her trial, Porsche admitted taking the money but alleged it was seized from her by security officers who stormed the bank. Her arrest sparked nationwide outrage after videos showed security personnel partially undressing and sexually assaulting her during detention. She refused to speak in court due to emotional distress. Her lawyer has announced plans to appeal the verdict.
