Popular Nigerian social media content creator, GehGeh, has stirred massive reactions online after releasing a controversial video where he explained the difference between a “baby mama” and a “single mother.”
In the video titled “Difference between Baby Mama and Single Mother”, GehGeh claimed that baby mamas are successful, career-driven women who can comfortably take care of themselves and their children, while single mothers are simply poor baby mamas who men usually avoid.
GehGeh’s Definition of Baby Mama
According to him, a baby mama is a woman who may have left her man due to his behaviour but remains financially stable and capable of raising her child without the father’s support.
He described baby mamas as career women living comfortably, adding that if such a woman decides to remarry, “over 100 men will line up, begging for her hand in marriage.”
He said:
“A baby mama na successful woman wey fit take care of her child in the absence of the father. Na baby mama dey tire for relationship, maybe the man is misbehaving, they can easily walk away without creating any drama.”
GehGeh’s Definition of Single Mother
However, his description of single mothers was far less flattering. GehGeh stated that a single mother is simply a poor baby mama and went as far as likening them to “nuclear weapons” that men always run away from.
In his words:
“Single mother na poor baby mama. Those ones dey dangerous pass nuclear weapons. Na the men dey run dey leave them.”
He argued that single mothers are often bitter and transfer the hatred they feel for their baby fathers onto their children, thereby creating tension in families.
GehGeh added that while baby mamas maintain cordial relationships with their baby fathers and speak well of them, single mothers are always at war with their ex-partners and never say anything good about them.
Social Media Reactions
His comments have sparked heated debates across platforms, with many Nigerians questioning the accuracy and fairness of his categorisation. Some agreed with his views, while others criticised him for promoting stereotypes that stigmatise single mothers.
