Galadima Warns: Tinubu’s Government Risks Civil War Over INEC Appointment

Buba Galadima, a prominent figure in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has expressed grave concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He warns that the potential appointment of a controversial retired judge as the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could lead Nigeria towards civil war.

In an interview on ARISE Television’s Prime Time program, Galadima urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, asserting that individuals with dubious reputations should not lead the electoral body.

“Come November, there are rumors all over the place that this government is nominating a just retired court of appeals judge who is known for notoriety to be the chairman of INEC. I wish it is not true,” he stated. “Because if that man becomes the chairman of INEC, be rest assured that this government is inviting a civil war in this country. We cannot allow somebody that has a record of notoriety to be imposed on us as INEC chairman,” he added.

Galadima also criticized the current leadership of INEC, claiming that the electoral body has been compromised in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He remarked, “The INEC chairman has already rigged the election for APC. They brought somebody that is the secretary of the party that went to court for APC as acting national chairman, and he was rewarded with chairman of INEC.”

He warned that such developments threaten the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system and cautioned against the potential consequences if the alleged appointment proceeds. “If this man is appointed INEC chairman, then forget about elections in Nigeria. Because there would be no elections in this country, and it will create chaos,” Galadima concluded.
