Vimbai Muzuva, popularly known in Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry as Chocolate, has dramatically turned her life around after leaving her stripping career to embrace Christianity.
Once a regular figure on nightclub stages at home and abroad, Chocolate has now reinvented herself as a born-again Christian, following her marriage to a pastor.
A Complete Break from the Past
According to close associates, Muzuva has cut ties with her old lifestyle. She has deleted content from her former social media accounts, changed her contact details, and now uses a private Facebook account under her real name, where she frequently shares Bible verses.
Her former manager, Sherpard Sherpy Taz Tsandukwa, described her transformation as both a relief and a victory after years of battling substance abuse.
“I am glad that Chocolate, whom I once managed, has turned to God after winning her battle against drug abuse,” he said.
Former Life in Clubs and Abroad
Chocolate was well known in strip clubs for her electrifying performances, often turning heads with her dance routines. Tsandukwa recalled their shared history, including a six-month tour of China.
However, their relationship also had rocky moments. At one point, she accused him of theft, leading to his arrest, though he was later acquitted for lack of evidence. Despite the fallout, he said he later supported her rehabilitation.
“She is now focused on God’s ministry and runs a beauty products stall in Glen View,” Tsandukwa added.
Industry Leaders React to Her Transformation
The Dancers Association of Zimbabwe (DAZ) also hailed her decision. Its president, Harpers Mapimhidze, said her switch to faith marked a welcome change from what he described as a troubling decline earlier this year.
“Earlier this year, she had become a slave to drugs, behaving violently and irrationally. Today, I celebrate with her because she has turned to God,” Mapimhidze said.
He added that Chocolate has cut ties with many of her old acquaintances, with her pastor-husband ensuring she stays away from negative influences.
