FORMER REAL MADRID STAR ROYSTON DRENTHE SUFFERS STROKE

Former Real Madrid and Dutch international winger, Royston Drenthe, has reportedly suffered a stroke and is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in the Netherlands.

According to a statement released by FC de Rebellen, an organization that represents former professional footballers, the 38-year-old was admitted on Friday after the incident.

The statement reads:

“Last Friday, Royston Drenthe suffered a stroke. Drenthe is currently receiving good care and is in good hands. The team and those involved hope for a speedy recovery.”

Drenthe first made his mark at Feyenoord, where his impressive performances earned him a transfer to Real Madrid in 2007. During his time with Los Blancos, he won the LaLiga title, cementing his place among Europe’s promising young stars at the time.

He later had a stint in the English Premier League with Everton, and also featured for Reading and Sheffield Wednesday before eventually retiring from professional football.

Fans and former teammates across the world have continued to send their best wishes to the Dutchman for a speedy and full recovery.
