A former Minister of Information and prominent PDP chieftain, Professor Jerry Gana, has revealed that former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to Leadership, Gana made the disclosure while addressing journalists after the PDP held its state congress in Minna, Niger State, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
He stated that the PDP is fully prepared to return Jonathan as Nigeria’s next president, stressing that Nigerians have seen the difference in governance since he left office in 2015.
“In 2015, former President Goodluck Jonathan said his ambition was not worth the blood of Nigerians. After him, another president ruled for eight years and now another has ruled for two years. Nigerians have seen the difference, and the difference is very clear,” Gana said.
He added: “Nigerians are now asking us to bring back our friend, former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. I can confirm that he will contest the presidential election in 2027 as PDP candidate, and you will vote for him to return as president again.”
If confirmed, Jonathan’s return bid will mark one of the most dramatic comebacks in Nigeria’s political history, sparking major debates ahead of the 2027 polls.
