A former pastor of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Dr Great Olalekan Martins, has shared details surrounding his resignation from the church, citing welfare and leadership concerns. In a post shared online, the cleric alleged that certain overseers treated him unfairly during his assignment in Kabba.
According to him, his monthly salary was repeatedly deducted despite clear instructions from the church’s founder, Pastor William Kumuyi, that such practices should stop. Martins claimed the actions caused financial strain and emotional distress, eventually pushing him to leave the ministry.
He described the experience as painful, noting that his decision to speak out was driven by a desire for transparency and accountability within church leadership. The revelation has since sparked conversations on clergy welfare and internal administration within major religious organisations in Nigeria.

In his caption, he wrote:
“He fraudulently deducted my salary against pastor Kumuyi’s instruction. Yet pst… out of greediness and wickedness was deducted out of my small salary in the name of GS when pastor Kumuyi had ordered that such deduction should stop..”
