A major fire outbreak on Saturday evening rocked the Amuwo Odofin Industrial Estate in the Mile 2 area of Lagos, forcing an emergency response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the inferno started at Alkem Nigeria Limited, a recycling plant located within the industrial hub. As of the time of reporting, the fire was still burning, with the scale of damage yet to be fully assessed.
The Lagos State Fire Service, in an official alert, confirmed the incident and assured residents and workers in the area that firefighters were actively battling the blaze. The Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said full deployment had been made to contain the fire and prevent its spread to nearby facilities.
She urged members of the public to remain calm as emergency teams continue operations. No casualties have been reported so far, while authorities say updates will follow as the situation unfolds.
