The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially resumed payment of arrears to corps members after a two-month suspension, bringing relief to thousands of beneficiaries.
The first batch of payments was disbursed on June 3, covering the revised ₦77,000 monthly allowance recently approved by the Federal Government.
The arrears apply not only to current corps members but also to those who have completed their service year, spanning from July 2024 to March 2025.
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, previously assured that all eligible members—including recent graduates—would receive their arrears once funds were released.
He explained that payment records, including bank details of outgoing corps members, were retained to ensure nobody was excluded.
The increment, introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, aims to cushion the impact of rising living costs on Nigerian youths.
The resumption follows weeks of frustration and complaints from corps members over the delayed implementation.
