The Federal Government has launched a free nationwide financial literacy programme aimed at training 10 million Nigerians, following the signing of a strategic MoU with six leading professional bodies.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking at the State House in Abuja, said Nigeria’s economic growth depends on deliberately empowering youths and women with financial, digital and ethical skills suited for a modern economy.
The programme, implemented through PreCEFI, will be delivered in partnership with ICAN, CIBN, CIS, NICA, CRMI and NIIE, focusing on financial inclusion, certification pathways, digital skills, mentorship and professional standards.
Shettima described the initiative as an investment in human capacity, stressing that financial inclusion goes beyond access to competence, trust and capability. He added that Nigeria cannot build a trillion-dollar economy on weak skills and fragmented systems.
The training will prioritise women and young people, supporting small businesses and professionals nationwide. Stakeholders at the event pledged full technical and institutional backing to ensure nationwide reach and long-term impact.
