FG Secures Freedom of 230 Abducted Niger School Pupils

The Federal Government has announced the successful rescue of all 230 pupils and staff abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School, Papiri, in Niger State, describing the development as a major relief for the nation.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government confirmed that the final batch of 130 pupils has been released, bringing the ordeal to a complete end with no child left in captivity.

The rescued pupils are being formally handed over to the Niger State Government before reunification with their families. The Minister praised the security forces for their bravery, noting that the operation reflects Nigeria’s firm resolve to protect its citizens.

The Federal Government also expressed deep sympathy with affected parents and guardians, wishing them healing, joyful reunions, and a peaceful Christmas season.
