The Federal Government has officially denied reports claiming that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has been scrapped as a requirement for gaining admission into Nigerian universities and other tertiary institutions.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Federal Ministry of Education spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the government reaffirmed that JAMB remains the statutory body authorized to conduct entrance examinations and coordinate admissions across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The Minister dismissed the viral publications suggesting otherwise, describing them as false, misleading, and unauthorized. He urged students, parents, and educational institutions to rely only on official communication channels of the Ministry and JAMB for accurate updates concerning admission processes.
Dr. Alausa further reassured Nigerians of the government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, fairness, and meritocracy in the education sector, emphasizing that JAMB’s role remains critical in maintaining integrity in the nation’s tertiary admission system.
