Federal High Court Rules Nnamdi Kanu Has Case to Answer in Terrorism Trial

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, must enter his defense in the ongoing terrorism charges filed against him.

Presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, on Friday dismissed the “no-case submission” filed by Kanu’s legal team, ruling that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence linking him to the charges.

Court Insists Kanu Must Face Trial

Justice Omotosho held that the court was satisfied with the evidence presented by the prosecution, insisting that Kanu has questions to answer regarding the allegations of terrorism and related offenses.

The ruling means the IPOB leader is expected to open his defense and respond to the charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

Bail & Medical Request Denied

In a related ruling, Justice Omotosho also denied Kanu’s request to be transferred from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) to the National Hospital, Abuja, where he sought medical examination over claims of deteriorating health.

The judge maintained that the DSS is capable of providing the necessary medical care, stressing that the request lacked merit.
