In a bold statement, Ayodele Fayose, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed confidence that Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji will not only break his electoral record but will also surpass it. Fayose’s comments came after Oyebanji submitted his nomination form in Abuja on Wednesday.
Fayose highlighted that Oyebanji is poised to win in all 177 state wards, eclipsing Fayose’s previous record of winning in 16 Local Government Areas. He noted the significant political support Oyebanji received during his nomination, suggesting it should dispel any lingering doubts about the upcoming elections.
“The governor will not only break my record of 16-0, he will surpass it by winning all the 177 wards,” Fayose stated. He emphasized his support for both Governor Oyebanji and President Bola Tinubu, clarifying that he is not affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fayose urged Oyebanji to continue focusing on good governance and delivering democratic benefits to the people of Ekiti until 2030, dismissing any opposition as insignificant. “They are mere storm in a teacup,” he remarked.
