United States-based tech billionaire Elon Musk has apologised to users of his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), following widespread frustrations caused by an algorithm glitch.
In a short post on Friday, Musk admitted that the X team was aware of the technical problems affecting users’ feeds and engagement visibility, assuring that engineers were “working hard” to restore normal operations.
“My apologies for frustrations with the algorithm. We are working hard to fix the problem,” Musk wrote on X.
The apology came after several prominent accounts, including Coinbase, the largest U.S. cryptocurrency exchange, and Pudgy Penguins, a popular NFT platform, publicly complained about reduced visibility and irregular engagement on their posts.
Coinbase jokingly stated, “My employment depends on it,” while Pudgy Penguins pleaded, “Elon, can you please make the algorithm show us more penguins?”
This latest issue adds to the growing list of technical glitches experienced on the platform since Musk’s takeover in 2022, as the billionaire continues his efforts to transform X into an “everything app.”
