Ekundayo Backs Adeleke’s 2026 Re-Election Bid

The second-term ambition of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has received a significant boost as prominent politician and former governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Dr. Ademola Ekundayo, officially declared his support for the governor ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election.

Ekundayo, who participated in the 2018 governorship election under the APP, made this commitment during a meeting with the leadership of the Not Too Young To Rule (NTYTR) movement in Osogbo.

Following the meeting, the National Coordinator of NTYTR, Hon. Samuel Ogundairo, stated that the group was in Osun to mobilize youth support for the governor, citing Adeleke’s performance as “a compelling reason” for statewide mobilization.

Ogundairo remarked, “Our meeting with Dr. Ekundayo is part of our strategy to consolidate youth support for Governor Adeleke. His administration has recorded visible achievements, and we believe he deserves another term.”

Ekundayo pledged to work diligently to ensure Adeleke’s re-election, emphasizing that the governor’s policies and programs had made a significant impression on him.

He stated, “Governor Adeleke’s programs and policies since he assumed office have placed him high. I have directed my supporters across the state to support him in whichever political party he belongs to. We will mobilize across all 30 local government areas.”

The meeting in Osogbo was attended by Ekundayo’s supporters and leaders of various youth organizations.

Ekundayo, who faced a violent attack during the 2018 rerun election in some LGAs, mentioned that the painful experience did not alter his commitment to the state’s progress.

Despite the attack, he stated that he did not seek any appointment under Adeleke’s administration and had continued to support the government quietly.

Ogundairo further added that his statewide tour revealed widespread appreciation for Adeleke’s developmental achievements.

“I have moved around the state and discovered that Governor Adeleke has achieved a lot, especially in infrastructure and human development. That is why we are standing with him,” he concluded.
