Economic analyst Adetilewa Adebajo has raised concerns over the fiscal policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing its spending pattern as “a bit reckless.”
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Thursday, Adebajo noted that while the administration has made progress in some areas, excessive government spending remains a major issue.
“Tinubu is going in the right direction, but the only issue I have with his administration is fiscal spending. It’s a bit reckless, and it needs to be curtailed,” he said.
According to him, fiscal recklessness is partly responsible for driving core inflation in the country. He explained that while food inflation could be tackled by improving agriculture and fixing insecurity, energy inflation remains difficult to control following the removal of fuel subsidy.
Adebajo stressed the need for tighter fiscal checks to stabilize the economy and reduce inflationary pressures.
