A Nigerian pastor has stirred reactions online after revealing how his wife, a fellow clergyperson, abandoned their marriage and married another man shortly after he sponsored her trip to the United States.
The pastor, who shared the emotional story during a recent sermon, said he and his wife had been together for over two decades before the shocking betrayal.
According to him, both were invited to a Christian program in the U.S. in 2016, but he decided to stay back in Nigeria to care for their children while his wife attended the event. He sponsored her travel expenses and visa, trusting her completely.
However, the wife reportedly returned to Nigeria two months later with a two-year visiting visa, which later became the turning point in their marriage.
The pastor narrated that things took a strange turn soon after, and before long, she relocated permanently and remarried in the U.S., leaving her family behind.
The revelation has sparked mixed reactions across social media, with many sympathizing with the heartbroken man, while others described it as a lesson in trust and relationships.
The pastor, though visibly emotional, maintained a calm tone during his sermon, emphasizing forgiveness and divine justice.
“Sometimes, the people you lift up are the ones who pull you down. But God sees everything,” he said.
