Destiny Amaka Blows Hot: “Dating in Nigeria Has Become Transactional!

Nollywood actress and media personality, Destiny Amaka, has expressed frustration over the state of modern relationships, saying that dating in Nigeria has lost its true meaning.

Taking to her Instagram story, Destiny lamented that many men now see dating as a transaction, expecting intimacy simply because they took a woman out.

“Men Have Lost the Gentleman Spirit”

According to the actress, real relationships should be about building genuine chemistry, not rushing into physical expectations.

She wrote:

“A lot of men have lost the art of being a gentleman. Imagine taking a woman out and assuming she owes you a kiss? Dating is not supposed to be a business deal.”

“The Streets Are Rough for Intentional Women”

Destiny stressed that serious women who are focused and intentional about love now struggle to find respectful, intelligent, and supportive men.

The streets are rough for us intentional women oh!” she added.

Respect Above All

She further explained that she never expects from a man what she cannot do for herself and can easily sense when a man is only after sex.

Calling such behaviour “off-putting,” Destiny advised men to treat women with the same respect they would want for their mothers and sisters.

You can’t say you want a good woman but expect her to be loose. It doesn’t blend. If that’s what you’re after, there are places for that,” she said.

Reactions to claims of scarcity of men

raypwol replied: “Some will buy small fish and a bottle of beer for you, next thing let’s go and lodge.

sarahopeyemitv noted: “I’m glad someone is speaking up. She spoke my mind.”

leeroygramofficial penned: “This one is different! She is talking as an intentional woman and partner.. not a liability.. and she’s very correct good women deserve good men! Let rubbish discover themselves!”

therealdonwilly said: “It’s harder to find a good woman ….no one easy …..”

chidozieduru penned: “The situation is same on both sides….same way e hard una to find good man, same way e hard us to find good woman…all of us will suffer.”

taritatosky opined: “Na true say dating don become like transaction for some people. Plenty men dey expect physical intimacy too quick, without even knowing di person. Make we no forget say respect and genuine interest dey important for building meaningful relationships. Women deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, no matter di circumstances.”

Her remarks have since stirred conversations online, with many Nigerian women echoing her concerns about how dating has become more about transactions than true connection.
