Dele Momodu Claims APC is Jittery Ahead of 2027 Elections

Publisher Dele Momodu has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of stifling opposition parties as the 2027 general election approaches. Speaking on a breakfast show, Momodu, a member of the opposition coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC), stated, “It’s obvious that the ruling party is jittery. The ruling party does not want any strong competition in 2027 in particular.”

Momodu further claimed that the APC is not concerned about the governors but prefers a sole candidate for the upcoming elections. He suggested that all political parties might endorse one individual, whom he referred to as the President and Commander-in-Chief.

His comments followed the recent recognition of the ADC national working committee by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which is led by former Senate President David Mark and ex-Osun governor Rauf Aregbesola as secretary. This development has sparked debates among politicians, with some ADC members threatening legal action.

Momodu expressed no surprise at the potential court actions, particularly from former ADC presidential candidate Dumebi Kachikwu. He remarked, “There’s nothing wrong with anybody going to court if you’re aggrieved. Well, fortunately, they should have known that the conveners of ADC worked extremely hard behind the scenes to arrive at where we are now.”

He added that the ADC’s efforts were made in anticipation of government interference, similar to what has been seen in other political parties like Labour, PDP, and NNPP, where factions have emerged.
