Nigerian global music icon David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially been appointed as the Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.
The appointment, announced by the Osun State Government on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, forms part of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s broader agenda to reposition and revitalise the state’s sports sector.
According to the government’s statement, Davido’s new role is focused on mobilising resources to drive sports development and modernise facilities across Osun State.
Confirming the development, Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, who also serves as the Commissioner for Sports, disclosed that the multi-award-winning artiste was delighted about the appointment and accepted the offer immediately.
“The ongoing rehabilitation of the Osogbo Township Stadium to meet Olympic standards will be completed soon. We are also finalising plans to establish the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as the central body for sports development and policy implementation,” Adewusi said.
He further noted that the newly launched Osun State Sports Trust Fund, chaired by Davido, would attract investments and support from philanthropists, sports enthusiasts, and corporate partners within and beyond the state.
“Davido’s involvement is expected to attract substantial funding that will significantly impact the growth of sports in Osun,” he added.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to using sports as a major tool for youth empowerment, job creation, and community engagement, expressing confidence that Davido’s global influence will boost the state’s sporting profile.
