Labour Party’s 2023 Vice Presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has declared that insecurity will persist in Nigeria until politicians stop manipulating elections.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today, he stressed that Nigerians can only enjoy safety and progress when leaders are genuinely elected. He linked the cycle of killings to election rigging, the use of religion, ethnicity, political divisions, and money as tools of manipulation.
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) denied claims of paying bandits allowances. Major General Emeka Onumajuru explained that the military only operates a DDR programme (Operation Safe Corridor) for ex-combatants who surrender and are properly profiled, not active terrorists.
