Cross River Senator Agom Jarigbe Dumps PDP, Joins Ruling APC

The political landscape in Cross River State has shifted as Senator Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North in the National Assembly, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement marks a major blow to the opposition PDP, especially as Jarigbe was one of its vocal members in the Senate.

His defection comes barely four months after he publicly declared loyalty to the PDP, pledging in June not to abandon the party despite mounting internal crises and a wave of defections among prominent members.

Political observers say Jarigbe’s move could further tilt Cross River’s political balance in favour of the APC, which already controls the state government under Governor Bassey Otu.

The ruling party is expected to formally welcome the senator in a ceremony scheduled to hold later this week in Abuja, with top APC leaders reportedly in attendance.
